Description: The Battle of Iwo Jima was fought during the Pacific Campaign of World War II. The defenders were well entrenched and instructed to defend the island to the last man. Both sides suffered heavy losses of the 22000 Japanese troops stationed on the island only 1083 survived with the US losing a total of 6821 men in the battle.
